    The term "standard scope base" cannot be applied to WWI Germanicon period. You wouldn't dare to use this term with Britishicon WWI sniper rifles either. I found more old pics in my files of this Leitz Glasvisier, it is damn simple made. Yet I don't know the correct eye spacing which would tell us where it was mounted to.

    The more I've seen and owned in my collection career, the more interesting the early trials get - right?

    Simple misstatement. Intended to say "standard back sight base"'; the rest of the post refers to the backsight & base.
