These loads often called gallery loads started when the .30-06 was adopted. The US Army needed a load for guard duty that would not keep traveling after a soldier shot someone while on guard duty. These Guard rounds were light loaded with Bulleyes powder and with the regular military projectile at the time. I have replicated these loads for shooting as I cannot take the full power of the standard .30-06 cartridge. I have used IMR 700X and Little Gun powders as subsitutes when I cannot get the Bulleyes.Information
