    I don't think the serial on the bolt is factory serial. Additionally, all No. 3 T's I've seen had the F-Sight, and the F-Sight was ALWAYS mismatching. So yours having a factory matching rear sight would also be incorrect.

    Thanks to everyone for their input… I 100% agree that this isn’t the right rifle for my sniper project and shouldn’t be messed with being such an early serial number. The bolt does still have me scratching my head as it is a Winchester bolt and from what I can tell from what’s there the bolt number font looks correct but it certainly looks like it may be a replacement. I guess I’m still holding out hope that there’s some explanation for why it looks partially ground. Doesn’t look like there was anything underneath so maybe it was some odd damage???

    I actually have an original fine sight for this project as well. I have another Winchester that would be good for this but it is in an Eddystone fat boy stock.
