    By the way, did a little research on the Dick Act of 1903. It did resuult in the spending of about $53M in new equipment for the National Guard between 1904 and 1916, rifles, included.

    In Elton Mackin's book (his WWI diary - "Suddenly We Didn't Want to Die"), he mentions a Army battalion passing by that was armed with Krags. The Marines were making fun of them because of the Krags. At least one battalion used Krags in Franceicon.

    There were some .30-30's purchased by the government during WW1. Used by the forestry service.
