Colt .45 Argentine model of 1927

That is a rather rare gun in that it appears to be all matching from the factory, uncommon with the Argentine Colts. I don't know what that means in dollars, but it would have to be something more than the unmatching ones in the same condition.

Jim,
I took the pictures to document the markings while I had it torn down.
I was really surprised how well it cleaned up.
The action is tight. I have about 6 mags for it, that have always been stored with it.
I'll have to pull them out and try to ID those also.

My Father swapped a pocket watch for it years ago.

I know it's worth more than any monetary value because it was your dad's 1911, but what a bonus!

Questions....
Would it be worth the time and effort to have this replacement front sight swapped out to a more period/correct one?

Any idea of cost and how hard it would be to find a correct frt sight for this?

Possible cost for a smith to R and R?

Couldn't I just ship the slide out to have the Frt sight swapped?

Or should I just leave it alone?

It's just a every now and then shooter. Plenty accurate if you know the trick to aiming it..... BUT there is a trick to it !

Just tossin out some thoughts and looking for some advice.

Would a small tenon, Half moon key style frt blade at .057" thick sound correct for a 1927 colt 1911A1 Transition?

Try asking "Chuck in denver". He posts a lot on some of the other forums and does a lot of milsurp gunsmithing.
