Thanks for the comments, does anyone know when this was made. The last carbine I purchased about a year ago was also a WRA and a commenter told me what month and day the serial number was applied. My search of the web indicated possibly May 1943. Is that about right? Regards

Without knowing your full serial, the 60K range was stamped on receivers from April 6th-13th, 1943. If you care to know the exact date, we probably just need to know all but the last couple digits.

Thanks. I thought I included it in the first post, sorry about that 1067095. I finally took the sling off and the corroded oiler is marked IW. Crazy to think it could maybe have the original sling and oiler. Were they shipped with sling and oiler or were they just handed out as supply’s at the unit level?

OMG! early original spring tube Winchester with what looks to be all original parts! You hit the lottery on that one! Checkered safety and long tab mag catch. WOW! Even has the right dog leg hammer! I don't know what you paid for it, but I'm pretty sure you robbed the guy!

Thank you, Garands were being built pretty fast during that period to meet demand, so probably late Apr or early May. Regards

Thank you for the link. I guess there is a slight chance based upon the comments provided by Bill that the set up could be original. Even if not they have been together for years and the sling has the dirt and grime of having been there. Thanks for the information.

I have no way to prove it but your sling could very likely be the original issued with that Carbine. If we were to imagine wear and tear compared to the M1 I'd believe very possible. They do have that been together a long time look.

Can't see it in the picture, But is your Keeper/Buckle the Round one?

I have a number of WRA's under 1,079,000 that all came with C Tips.
But only one a WRA 1,030,621 that the sling has had me thinking for a long time is the original, but I can't prove it. The C Tips and sling color are like yours. I did a long...... Post here about it but only caught little views of the sling. My thinking, what little I do, Is If the Sling isn't damaged why would it get replaced?

Back when I did this Post I broke it down while dirty to help show wear patterns.
I wish I would have got separate pictures of the Sling BEFORE I cleaned it after cleaning the Carbine.
