T.M.H.S. holds its reenactors to the very highest levels of authenticity but sometimes incorrect or post war pieces of kit slip through. Putting any WWII impression together these days represents a small fortune as well as a lot of time invested as even reproduction uniforms and kit are spendy. I reenacted several impressions over the years here in Texas: 1st Canadianicon Parachute Battalion, 5. Gebirgs-Division, RCE, 5th Special Forces, Britishicon 8th Army, and 1st Texas Field Battery and believe me, if you got something wrong you heard about it.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. No, I agree. This was just the first thing that drew my attention. I knew even when we went to the field we got dirty travelling. I'm not suggesting he dip his rifle in the mud...

Another give away, his boots are not period correct. WWII boots have the slant style heel on the forward edge. I believe that is true up to Korea but not sure on that. Until very recently reproduction boots all had the squared edge heel.

Yeah, when I wore the uniform (Civil Air Patrol) is was a constant struggle to keep things sharp. A day of something as light duty as marshaling planes at the airfield for search and rescue mucked stuff up.
