Out of surgery. Will definitely need reading glasses. Vision kind of a mess right now. I have a shield on my left eye. Wearing my glasses with blocky sunglasses on top. It went very fast, seemed like 5 minutes. I was awake the entire time even though they said I was under anesthesia. I felt like I was going to sneeze and that horrified me. I did not sneeze. Heading home to sleep now.

I went down for post op check up and everything is fine. My vision still sucks but my eye is still dialated to the max. They said my vision is a lot better than most at this stage as I could at least decipher most of the lines.

I'm supposed to watch for pain, redness and loss of vision. Next check up is next week. I'm staying home tomorrow and maybe Friday but can return to work Monday. Friday I might do some light work nearby. I tape a shield over my eye before bed and I'm to keep the eye protected while outside. Maybe this is why they said I can't take the lense out of my glasses because I tried that and I can see fine if I do.

First morning after surgery. I'm moving around the house without glasses. Eyesight is still not great but I'm typing on my computer right now without glasses. Everything is still a little fuzzy. Last night, things weren't great so I checked the mirror, my pupil was about five times the size of my right eye. This morning it's about twice the size so it is improving. No pain to speak of, a little dry eye but that's normal for me in the morning. Computer monitor distance is looking like my minimum focus distance. Reading books will require reading glasses. It's a little weird having my left eye be dominant now. I did try taking the lens out of the left side of my glasses and initially, it seemed like it was working but I could only stand it for about an hour. There's a small picture frame beside my TV set and i was closing each eye and it was about two inches smaller with my left than it was with my right so some serious perspective issues. I think I will stop over at my eye glass place and see if actually have a lens put in would help with this or not. My alternative is just remaining blind in the left eye for two weeks as I need the protection of the glasses

Yep. About the dilation, sometimes the dilation med they use doesn't reverse itself. They can either leave it wide or put in another med to close it. With one of mine they left it open and I looked like I had a concussion. With the other they used the closing med and it slammed me so closed that I could barely see... and looked like I had a concussion!

Being originally near-sighted, having it reversed on me has been a HUGE adjustment.

I'm nearsighted also but I did go through a short phase years ago where I had extended wear contacts so I do have memory of what it's like to wake up and being able to see. My biggest adjustment is going to be the close up stuff. I have progressive lenses now so I can read books no problem but for working on the rust on my guns and things, I'm always taking the glasses off and moving in very close. I won't be able to do that anymore and as I have no comparison, I don't know if I'll like it or not. Maybe with readers it compensates for this, I don't know. I'll probably head over to Walmart today and try some over the counter glasses to experiment with.

This is exactly the place I find myself in now. The new lens inserts also don't pass as much light to I find myself needing more light to read and am still finding it difficult, which is tough because I am a voracious reader and prefer physical books. Somewhere between my eyesight and the malaise left over from my son's death last year I'm finding it hard to get up the motivation to read. It's weird!

I don't want to lose the motivation to read. I love reading. I think I may have the opposite, not sure but I was looking at something this morning and with my left eye it was brillant white, the right with my glasses was slighty duller, yellowish. But looking again now I think that's just the polarization in the lens.

My eyes this afternoon are almost the same dilation but I don't see all that sharp out of the left yet. Hoping it's just some healing time that's needed. I can see well enough to go without glasses but reading things is difficult. It could also be because it's totally out of focus due to the glasses lens in front of it.

Eye still feeling good, I had a minor head ache for a little today but not for long.
