Mk 1 lower handgaurds were attached by a single spring clip to the barrel. The forend thus had a relief for only one spring. The Mk1* featured a two spring clip lower handguard thus requiring a different forend. In my relenting search for bits to restore my Mk1, I have accumulated everything except the single spring forend. This find is very good news!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Anzac day this year saw me down the local rifle range at North Arm for a 303 shoot, took the HT and amazed a few people that I would actually shoot something that most people would just lock in a safe.
A chap from Towoomba did brilliantly with his 303 heavy barrel and peep sights, most shots bulls eyes at 200, 400 and 600 yards.
All in all an excellent day. Great to watch and participate.

Local TV footage has just shown a previously unknown reel showing a commando training camp on Fraser Island, where the elite meet to greet.
This was top secret, the wives of the soldiers told to "keep their mouth shut" and had everything from gorilla warfare to sniper training, during ww2.
