    Nice looking Carbines.
I really like those two big ones at the bottom.
    Great score!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Each stock was different, Some of them were fuzzy and stunk real bad,
Gojo and steel-wool got them to smell better.
then I progressively used steel wool coarse to fine. Finish with Formby's
and knock the gloss off with each coat. Formby's is a varnish oil, so it will
fill pores on porous grain real good. It really shows deep grain on walnut.
It also seems to protect against small dings and such better than just BLOicon.
It really binds the fibers together to protect wood. And if someone don't
like it, it can easily be removed in the future. To give it that low gloss look
I use a Majik Sponge or magic eraser, those things are great.
Some were sanded with a grinder at the arsenal, so just knocked down the
roughed spots. If I had to stain the stocks, I would use alcohol based stain,
I would stain the stock wet and use full strength, this prevented blotching.
I have got a few that just have BLOicon, it maybe the right way, but it don't
bring out the grain of the walnut.
