That sort of thing has been happening for a number of years. In January 1977 when I was in the Marine Corps, my unit marched in Jimmy Carter's inaugural parade. We were issued M16s and had to turn in the bolt assemblies before we got on the bus that took us into DC. When we were on the Mall and finally all formed up and ready to start marching in the parade, a secret service agent told us, "Okay you men. When you turn the corner from 15th street onto the part of Pennsylvania Avenue where the reviewing stand is, make sure your rifle is real comfortable on your shoulder. Because if you even look like you're going to put your left hand up to move it, YOU WILL BE SHOT. Every body understand?"Information
