    LB serial listing

My one and only Long Branch is marked No 4 MK I* FTR(F) [note: no FTR date]; ser#: 42L0529 (original stamping on the wrist, later electro-penciled on barrel, and stamped below the FTR stamp); action is 1943 dated; 1943 dated barrel; not import marked; it was [poorly] sporterized at some point and was missing several small parts and its magazine; bolt is a 1st type Long Branch, stamped 63L (1944?); rear sight is a 1st type/milled Fazakerley; triggerguard is a 4th type (with attached trigger); the wood is beech or birch. Since it was FTR'd I feel that several of the smaller parts are replacements, and the action and barrel were "painted" black at the time.

    thanks!

    Long Branch C No 4 Mk 1*

Date on left side receiver is 1955

Serial number on rear/wrist band: 27L66XX (not done very well...looks like it was done very quickly with crappy spacing and slightly out-of-line)

A picture of your receiver side wall would be interesting to look at!

Correlating Serial Numbers to Monthly Production

I did the date correlations for the Savage Enfields, which was based on extrapolation, not on actual production data, which is apparently lost. I know of no date correlations for Long Branch.

If someone has correlated serial numbers with production months, please let me know. Otherwise, I will do some estimates. I think I have enough data to estimate the serial number and correlate months of production, particularly in 1944. If anyone has production data from 1941-3, it would be helpful. And any data on when production was restarted in 1949 and when it concluded in 1950 will be helpful. I am assuming that all production at Long Branch ended in 1945, and there was no further production until 1949.

After 1950, as I understand it, production was strictly for No. 7 .22s or special DCRA models and that data is probably very difficult to extrapolate and correlate.

Lumpetmine, could you kindly guide me to the last thread where all your data is posted so I can work with the best last data?

    Thanks, Robert
