A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I have the cheap Verizon DSL 780K.
The test got me a DL of 745K and a UL of 116K.

I have a monitor and on occassions it has been well over 1 meg and on other occassions under 500K for downloads.

The speed is fast enough for me for now.

That is also through a router.....maybe I'll disconnect that and see if it is any faster.

    Oh, yeah, Comcast cable.

    Hello folks ....

I just received an email from our software development guy, commenting on the Speed Test program he installed for us here.

I had incorrectly assumed that it was generically testing speed as it relates to your overall Internet connection.

He's corrected me on that point indicating that this specific speed test as installed on our site is not actually connecting to a different resource. This means that the speed that you are getting is actually related to your specific connection with our site.

This is why some of you will get lower or higher speeds at different times.

This is somewhat of a good thing because a normal speed test website will not provide a speed of a specific site. In other words, if you feel that our site here is too slow, then you can literally check it directly using the speed test link on the navigation bar at the top of the screen.

If you think that your general connection to the overall Internet is slow, then you might want to go to an external test, such as:

Speakeasy - Speed Test (click here)

My apologies for the confusion ...

    Regards,
    Badger

    Badger,

It's all relative just the same and it proves that your site can be very quick to access with DSL or cable connections and it will vary with the time of day.

Can you put Speakeasy - Speed Test (click here) in one of the bars above too?

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I think Ray deserves a medal, or at least to be a dedicated "Contributing Member" ...

To use that kind of low speed access and sit through the grinding slow speeds of any of these modern graphic based web environments and not whine about it, is certainly a sign of great patience, dedication and loyalty to any community ....

Thanks for the feedback Ray ..

Yep, Ray is unique in that he doesn't complain, he works with what he has.

Ray, if your modem speeds were your blood pressure, you'd need a shot of adrenalin! Hang in there!

    Slow.....

It's never occured to me that it is slow because I never knew how fast/slow mine was against how fast/slow other people's isp's were so I had nothing to judge it against,on top of that it kind of doesn't occur to me that I'm waiting cause my mind wanders a lot and I spend the "wait time" chasing around trying to locate it and get it back,if I was using a computer for cooking it would probably take me 4min. to cook a 3min.egg.
