AD-4NA,
That would have to have been- 'Sunray',
I've seen his comments about how there were never any Originally made Carbines on Many Forums dating back 12-14+ years. Many he's Banned on.
I still find them when doing random Carbine info searches.
Always the same ole Spiel.
*Partial Definition of Spiel- Often glib talk that's intended to persuade or make excuses. Originates from the German word spielen, meaning “to play." It's often somewhat rehearsed and should be greeted with skepticism.
Nothing Original because the Prime makers used Sub Contractors.
"No such thing as a Original Winchester or Inland"
Last time I dealt with him was after reading this Ridiculous reply by him (#8). My reply is #21.

I've learned to skip right by when I see the reply is by him. Life is too short to waste the time.

And it is not only on Forums, the soundbite below is in a sellers description for a NPM on GB.
"I hate selling M1 Carbine's. The interent is full of experts quick to point out what is correct and not correct. Between lateral support and field repair "correct" is a fantasy. My dad collected carbines and always said if a carbine was "correct" it was because someone took the time to make it so."

It's the one pictured in the hanging wall gun rack above a scoped rifle.

That would be considered to be a great shooter. P on the barrel is nothing considering NPM used a single punch mark as a proof. Probably nobody would rebarrel to correct and use a Marlin barrel. @$900 it is a good price for what it is. The Type two band is worth a couple hundred if legit. I love NPM carbines.
With all due respect, Sunray is a know it all. I'm very surprised that he would continue with that line of thought when it is so clear that out of 6.5M carbines a few hundred thousand are still as produced. I think that a lot of folks would greatly increase their horizon by reading "War Baby". Really get down into the whole story, read everything. There is room for interpretation and stunning information. Like Quality Hardware making one part. Why would they do something like that? The chances for correction are matched by the potential number of possibilities that support being original. My 5.4 Inland is like a "Check the boxes" original, literally everything described by Chris' article is there and the small things that give away an original like the sand blasted upper receiver and "shadow" on the barrel from the dipped finish parts being pushed to the receiver end are there. The finish is like brand new and it still rubs off if you scrub it hard enough. But it is an Inland, blah, there are lots of Inlands, but it is an original Inland, that's a big check mark.

I would bet that there is a NPM Punch mark also on that barrel, Marlin used there own "P", agree decent price so far. I also love NPM's!

Oh sunray and plenty of other forums.
I'm kind of disappointed actually, I've seen a lot of later production Inlands get treated (or mistreated) and sold as mixmasters. Getting deals this way is one good thing but seeing nice carbines abused is not. It may be the same way for late Winchesters.

I don't often use smilies, but when I do...
Of course the ultimate matching late war Inland or Winchester that a collector might misinterpret is an original M2 carbine, but that is another whole can of worms! Good luck on the papers with that one.

I don't mind some of the seller's spiel, of course the part about there being no such thing as an original carbine for the reasons given is hardly correct . As far as there being internet experts out there, I generally agree too and the worst types are the ones that feel they have have to bloviate in ad nauseam like fashion. When it comes to carbines, which can be confusing enough, less is really more. Unfortunately, there's a windbag on every carbine forum and more than one on the CC site.
