On March 17th, two days after his 86th birthday, my father passed away. Of all his accomplishments in a long and productive life - faithful husband, devoted father, college graduate, chemical engineer, business owner, private pilot, etc - the landmark accomplishment of his life was serving his country in World War II as an Army combat medic.
