WarBabyIII, page 1632 has some information on these mags - available sometime in the past from CTD. The mag is shown in WarBaby as holding 20 rounds, but probably in error. There was also a "full length" version that held 40rd - that would be a lot of weight with only two lugs for support. - Bob

I did some research and found that Midway, Sportsman's Guide, and a couple other vendors have also sold these. Some sites listed the manufacturer as "National Magazine." Sportsman's Guide still lists variations of this mag in 20, 30, and 40 rounds. Take a look at the close-up picture of the 40 rounder if you can locate it - unbelievable, but some buyers love 'em! - Bob

Interesting, appears two were put together to make a larger mag.

Exactly what's been done. I remember 30 rd mags for M14s were available years ago too. Just reacting to consumer requests I should think. Bigger is better...

Good lord, 40's! And I thought the 30's looked out of place... Whenever I get to shoot, I'll see how these function (they feed well with dummy rounds). Glad I was able to find a bunch of USGI 15's to stock up on.

I had an M2 carbine on my boat in Viet Nam with 30 round magazines. If 40 round magazines were available and reliable I would have wanted them. Heck, that's a 33% round increase that could have come in handy. I could have cared less what it looked like. It wasn't built for looks.

From what you've told us in the past Jim, you'd have taken a 100 rd drum for your little M2...and let'er smoke...
