At $0.85 per round today for junk 9 mm, the price of $1.59 per round is not so far out of line. My entry into reloading came from the always exorbitant prices of commercial 30 carbine ammo way back in 1974. USGI was out there, but as a kid in LA, finding it was problematic.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... I started reloading about 20~ years ago. Best thing I ever did after learning gun safety when much younger.

Some current .30 cal carbine prices:
    https://ammoseek.com/ammo/30-carbine

Some current GB listings for misc caliber Sears Ammo:
Vintage Ammo - Gun Auction - Collectible Ammunition at GunBroker.com

Seen this one listed, I believe my Father had some old boxes of this brand in .22 and .32RF. Check out the Buy Now price for the Meriden:
SCARCE MERIDEN 22 Short Metallic Cartridges - Vintage Ammo at GunBroker.com : 894507615

    Anyone remember Whiz-Bang ?
BRICK CIL Whiz Bang 22 LONG - Vintage Ammo at GunBroker.com : 894507873

Model 1898 .30 Cal US Army:
    USC co. US 30 U.S. Army Sealed - Vintage Ammo at GunBroker.com : 894508954

Just having a collection of empty old boxes would look pretty nice displayed.

If any of you "carbine guys" haven't checked GB prices lately, take a look at this link. Approximately 8 pages of M1icon Carbine related items that ended this past week - not all were bid on, but very interesting to me - especially the prices that Universals are now selling for. Hope the link works! - Bob
