Here are some better photos of the Ishapore. I discovered that the Jungle Carbine's rear triggerguard screw could be removed by hand and that's why it didn't get used yesterday. But I got the new screw in the mail today and it fits nice and snug. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take her out by myself in the next couple days and give a proper report.

I see you have a chunk missing on the rear right side of the fore-end, had similar on a No1 MkV, easy repair, pics of before and after,

Yes, I have the piece that popped off. It seems it was glued but maybe not well enough. I was thinking of putting in pins to hold it or is that overkill?

Mikesm44: Not overkill at all. Hardwood dowels or threaded brass rods would be typical in a repair like that.

From an Armourers shop point of view, then where there's no undercut dovetail for strength, then hardwood dowels are a must.

Well, I finally got to take the No5 out today. The place was packed, it was 2nd Amendment Saturday. Oh boy. A lot of "I've got my brand new AR that I have no idea how to use" going on. As well as shooting other people's targets. Grrr. I got through about 50 rounds without ever having any idea if I was hitting anything. I'd shoot 3 rounds, look through my scope, and my target would much more than 3 holes. Kind of annoying.
Anyway, eventually things settled down. I got pretty good groups. Somewhere between 5' and 3'. I forgot my rest, so all shots were standing or sitting in a folding chair leaning on my elbow. Pretty good for me at 100 yards. At least as good a performance as my Savage No4. I was pleasantly surprised by the recoil. After about 150 rounds though I switched to my M1 carbine.
I was doing really well with that, as I usually do, but I kept getting looser and looser groups. When to put the rifle back in the bag on my way to the car guess what I noticed? I lost the pin for the forward sight and it was slowly working it's way off the barrel. That would explain the lack of accuracy. Do'h. I guess I lost it when I replaced the barrel band with the bayo lug. Ugh. How it goes sometimes.
It was pretty fun having people come over and ask, "Is that one of those English rifles?" Haha.
Thanks for all the advice on the Ishapore, but I actually traded it with a pistol for a M1 Garand. So I will not be repairing it as it is now the new owner's problem. Don't worry though, he was aware of it's condition.
