I won't be the first to have noticed this Bad Billy but before you put it up, have it checked and confirmed by a real expert, in the flesh. I say this because the YEAR date stamp looks decidedly different than the MONTH date stamping. It would be simplicity itself to convert a no-quillion bayonet to a quillion bayonet if you could fake or overstamp the YEAR date marker to pre whatever it is.

I've spken with the guy who was the armorerer for that film, he contacted me as I put forward a theory that my WSC S294 with hook (made in 1944) that came from Autralia may have been made for that film and he told me that it wasn't the case, strange how my suggestions has taken a life of its own and is now accepted an I see it repeated often. Sorry I ever put that out as a theory, both on my site and I believe in my CD. can update the former but the latter is cast in resin

thanks for that,i never noticed... there is a pic of one that has the same maker,same month,same year as mine,but with the hook removed. IT is in the thread about the NZ
sold out of service marks on 1907s.. the year stamp on this example appears to be identical to my one.. but thanks for pointing that out. lucky for me there is a military arms fair this weekend in melbourne, im taking this thing with me to have it evaluated by other collectors and probably sell it too.
