Warning - Fake No.32 MkIII on eBay

I saw the two mark ones and they didn't look all that good so I left them on evilbay

I wouldn,t be put off too much by appearance, if its all complete and a bit neglected there are a two experts on this forum who may offer a service on rebuild and repair, Wheaty (Canada) or Peter Laidler (UK).

I decided to save the auction pics and description here in this thread for posterity, as they'll disappear once the original auction gets dated.

Very rare British No.32 sniper scope for Lee Enfield No.4 "T" rifle. The scope come with its original mount and sunshade.

Overall condition is exellent. Some small use marks on the scope but nothing important.

Optics are crystal clear. Adjsutments work fine

The scope is stamped with the following markings:

TEL STG No.32 MK 3

OS 2039 A

AK.&.S N° 17039

The mount has corresponding serial 17038 and a small proof mark at the back of it (see pictures)

Mount rings have corresponding numbers 20-20 and 21-21

I wonder if these No.32's are related to a separate thread posted by Roger Payne last fall?

Oh and a note to fakers - if you're going to pair up a fake no32 with the 'correct numbered' bracket, don't use one of the most easily spottable repros on the market.

I had a thought and a little chuckle the other day about these telescopes. Can you just imagine the blokes face, after he's paid about £1000 for a dozen or so of these fake scopes from his supplier in Poland. THEN finding that he's asked for Mk3's, but he's got Mk2's! Ok....., but to top it all, even the Mk2's are wrongly engraved as Mk3's

Talk about being sold a pig in a poke! Now the whole world knows

Yes, the castings of the turrets, the engraving style......all the same. They are obviously all from the same source, & it seems they're coming from (presumably) The Far East & being let out onto the market in the Benelux countries. No doubt they will diffuse across the globe in time!

Just glad I've got a few real ones......

It's a shame they aren't being more forthcoming with the repro's. If they were asking a sensible price , with an option of getting your own specific serial number, they'd have more business than they could handle.

Virtually admits its a repro, lists whats wrong with it and its still £1000 / $1500 with 12 hours to go.

Must say - he has been very fair to the bidders, offering to let them retract their bids.
