If it isn't to late, I would highly recommend donating it to a gunsmith, or a gunsmithing school in your area if there is one. This would provide a good practicing base for a smith in training to learn how to do all kinds of things. Drilling and tapping scope mounts, barrel removal...etc.
Just an idea.

If you are a C&R, I believe there is a form you need to submit when you dispose of or destroy a C&R classified firearm.

Another possibility would be to wait for an advertised "Police buy-back" event in some municipality near you. They often offer to pay X number of dollars for guns in any condition.......
