Thanks Topaz. People like Sam-T-Bob and George make me sick. Besides destroying historical artifacts that have remained intact for 60 plus years with their deceptions, they prey on the unknowing and new people interested in carbines as if it's a guiltless crime.
Most of their victims do eventually find out they've been taken. You don't hear most of them saying anything because they feel like fools for trusting in people. Imagine how bad they feel when they take their new prizes and show them to a knowledgeable collector. First they're in denial until the truth sets in. Most feel so bad they don't want anything to do with carbines anymore and guys like George could care less.
Harlan , You have a gift for words. I just don`t have that,to express my self so clearly. You know I was just thinking ,just like a (carfaxs) when you buy a use auto maybe their should be a carbinefaxs.(lol) But all joking aside Some times having forums to help is not enough for the new collectors. They can`t see straight. I guess we all have to be burned at one time or another to get smart , lets hope its not third degree burns for the newbies , Regards Bill

What these bozos don't even consider is what Harlan pointed out; they are destroying pieces of history. Imagine how many interesting, probably original parts that these dopes have stripped off. Sadly, when they do finish their masterpieces, they are often still totally wrong. I just wonder what kind of people these guys really are? Just inconsiderate fools who don't care about anything but themselves. They'd step in their own mother's face to make a buck.
I am a little confused over the "allowable" level of restoration that i can make to my "mixmaster" M1Carbines without being lumped into the category of someone who is destroying history and trying to deceive the buying public. Obviously, I do not condone marketing a restored M1 Carbine as "original". On the other hand, I seriously doubt that many of the parts that came with my mixmaster Carbine were the same parts that were on the rifle when it left the factory. If I want to replace an IBM firing pin, an Inland trigger and a National Postal Meter Hammer with the correct Winchester parts for that particular rifle, am I guilty of destroying history? I am not trying to defend our friend from the gunbroker ad--but as someone new to collecting carbines I'm just trying to get a feel for what is proper and what is "over the line".....JKL
This seller is known to use fake, after market, recently produced parts; flip sights, barrel bands, fake stocks, and fake acceptance stamps with no disclosure of any kind. His descriptions are misleading. He preys on the newbies, unsuspecting, and unknowing. This is clearly "over the line."
JKL, Its your carbine, you can do what ever you like to it! My all original early Inland had the rear flip sight upgraded and the sight was broken to boot. I like the flip sights so I got a nice flipper and put it right on there! I like it better that way. So if some don't like that, well, too bad. The punch marks forever tell the story of the guns rear sight changes so no history is altered. I just restored it to look a little closer to how it was when it left the factory.

Other then Carbines, how many other historical items have you seen changed or distroyed to fill a bank account.
For some it is only about the $$$$$$$.
