Was thinking of something similar, I know when I was there plenty of jobs for Mech Fitters/ Engineers in the mines etc, just before christmas we had ABB on board the ship to do a Turbo Charger on one of the Generators ,the guy who was doing the job I had seen before, he is from NSW, we talked about the work out in WA, and I was supprised at the wages he mentioned, certanly risen a lot since I was there, and a lot more than I would earn here, when I was in WA the wages were about the same as I was getting doing the Job I do now.

On the subject of wages the company I work for now is looking at a wage cut, which is a first for them so things not looking that good.

Latest stats have 1500+ people arriving in WA each week. Seems the WA economy is keeping the economy afloat. Live in WA and play in NZ is utopia

Although NZicon has the better gun laws it is a small pond and you will find it hard to get employment there, unless you can bring your job with you. Most Kiwis who want any sort of professional career end up packing their bags and heading for somewhere with more positions open.

The Jobs in my profession seem to be few and far between, I,m on the skills shortlist, for Australiaicon and NZ but cant find the work, there is one job on a Shrimp boat in NZ, but didn't see myself working for "Bubba Gump Shrimp" wouldn't mind the ferries in Sydney AUS, but I guess they are like what we used to call ferry jobs here, "Dead mans Shoes"
