Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Contrary to what Bay-Hunter might say, the EM-2 rifle did not use the standard M7/L bayonet.

I have been busy and have been catching up on bayonet-related activity from the last month or so.

I was looking at Graham Priest's book and observe that the British conversions of the No. 7 Mk. I/L for the EM-2 had the crosspiece with the slight double-taper described by Peter, while the Canadian Arsenals Ltd. conversions for their 7 mm. EM-2 trials rifles had a more "waisted" crosspiece like was subsequently used with the L1A1 (and Canadian C1) bayonet (ref. p. 299-301). Could this account for the difference?

I know that Tom, I guess you just don't get it. There's another with a small ring. Looks almost the same except for the ring. Very hard to find pics or examples...and THAT'S what we're talking about.

The 'big ring' version was the standard issue one. The crosspiece with the big ring was actually made up from old redundant No5 bayonet crosspieces. But regardless of that, they were absolutely crap bayonets of the highest crap standards! Nothing but trouble...........

I'm not sure that I'd go along with that Porterkids (thread 25) because some of the press and publicity stuff filmed/photographed at Warminster/Salisbury Plain distinctly SHOWS the large ring/No7 bayonet on the rifles. Just like the same bayonet was actually manufactured for the Mk5 Sten gun......... And was never, ever subject to a trial for use on the No4 rifle. I agree it'll fit ............. But we see it fixed on rifles too. What about the No9 bayonet then.......? Made for the No4 rifle. But used on the Sten gun (and the SA made UZI's)

No1 rifle bayonets......... used on Lanchesters
