I can tell you by the serial number and the scrub marks that it's a ZB39 with markings scrubbed post war by the communist authorities. Warren W has it's older brother, and both of mine are a little bit older than that.

Oh, and ignore the rimless rounds, they look like fired projectiles put on cases for show.

Perhaps you could elaborate on the serial number ranges for ex-Bulgarian receivers...

I have a scrubbed one in .303 that will not accept ZB39 magazines, which suggests to me that it was not originally in 8x56.

So far I've got the range as 10139 to 13229.

Isn't you're gun one of the post war builds?

I posted this on an earlier thread
But as the subject has cropped up again
The Bulgarian contract ZB Bren model 1939 in 8 x 56R were delivered in batches between 1940-2 and was well over 3,000 guns (approx 3,300).Serial numbers for this contract seem to have started at 10,000.
From observed serial numbers the text on the LH side of the reciever up to approx s/n 12133
reads - CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA A.S. BRNO
From approx s/n 13100 the text changes to - ZBROJOVKA BRNO A.S (last observed s/n 13229)

Can anyone narrow down the s/n change over from CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA A.S. BRNO to ZBROJOVKA BRNO A.S. ?
Or extend the bottom or top range of serial numbers ?

Mike does your fire selector engraving read 25-0-1 or A-S-R (or other ? )

Mine is "No. 2281", and marked "ZBROJOVKA BRNO, A.S." in rather larger letters, 5mm high. These appear to have been pantograph-engraved rather than roll-stamped. The selector marking is "30 0 1".

ZGB could you send as I haven't kept names to gun s/n's.

Mike have never come across a 30-0-1 selector marking apart from a post war model (1948) in .30 cal.
ZGB has a post war ZB catologue that shows the model 1939 / zb39 offered in 303 but from the pictures I have I can't see any markings.
Could you post some pictures ?
