I'm a little surprised that the Canadian version of Health and Safety let the carrier driver go without goggles. Apparently the Canadian mob isn't as constipated as their Australian cousins.

Turns out that is not actually the case. Very little is pensionable.

This UC (CTL14500) had been outdoors .

I wondered where you got the number CTL14500 from that you referred to in your first post. Now I see it stamped in your photo of the screen over the engine cover. That is actually the part number for the screen, and not the serial or registration number of the carrier. A cdn regisration number would be a number like CT123456.

There are 3 locations where you will find hull, body and serial numbers on the carrier, along with it's army registration number. As well, some of these numbers were stamped on a small serial plate located beneath the Ford Canada plate behind the driver, although I note that is missing.

Places to find numbers are on the left side of the division plate on the left side of the carrier (stamped into the angle iron), there will also be a number on the back left corner just behind the rear armour, again on the angle iron, and the main location is on the upper edge of the front hull just in front of the driver. There you will find the serial number, the build date, and the registration number, which, overseas, you would find painted on the sides of the hull.

Not trying to be a stickler here, but these numbers are important to ascertain the model and relative age of the carriers, as some parts varied during production. It would be interesting to find out if the number they used on the side of the carrier for 1VP was the actual number off the front armour.

That is good to know, when I was originally involved in the project I crawled over the vehicle pretty intimately, looking for any sort of ID the one in the photo is the only one I could locate. perhaps the rest were obscured by the thick layers of paint over the years. That number in the photo was the only distinguishing serial I could locate.

I will try to update the thread title and initial post, I would always err on the side of factual and welcome a correction when I get something wrong.
