I do the same as Eaglelord does, though my bottle has a little dawn in it. The only thing that really dissolves the salts is the water. For instance in windex the ammonia isn't doing the work, it's the water carrying it. I can't think off hand any cleaning materials that actually can neutralize the salts by changing their chemical makeup, they just dissolve and sweep them away. My main concern is the escaping gas around the handguard being a bit of a PITA to clean up on the barrel. Unfortunately I missed out on this lot of ammo.

Thompson Center makes a bore cleaner for their muzzle loaders that works well but I have also used hot water and soap and windex. All it takes is a good cleaning afterwards. I have quite a bit of 7.62 soviet that's put back in case of emergency that is corrosive. If the day comes when we start shooting it so be it. it will be there but I would just as soon shoot the good stuff. Actually I have some Norinco 7.62 that is more accurate than the non-corrosive stuff.
