Might just be the lighting, but the band looks a bit too shiny. In the first picture the swivel color doesn't look like it matches the band, but again it could be just the lighting. Hope to see more pictures after the 25th! - Bob

Thanks! I'll post them as soon as I get them. I'm also interested in what all of you think of the stock reference it possibly having been sanded and possibly refinished or stained. I have my suspicions but I am no expert.

That stock is really nice. The stock on the rifle we have been discussing has the oval cut. I wish it had the "I" cut like that one!

I went to pick up the Inland today and was informed that despite having a C&R FFL and California COE, I still had to wait the 10 days since the gun is a consignment sale. Ridiculous. If I could leave California I would. On an interesting note, during the 1.5 hours I was there, they sold over 40 guns, many to first time buyers (which was pretty obvious). I will pick the Inland up and load pictures on April 4th or 5th.

Finally picked it up today (went on Saturday but the State of California had a computer glitch that delayed everyone getting their firearms for at least 1 day past the 10 day limit). It appears to have many original parts but also some mixmaster parts (top handguard marked S-HB, Standard Products op rod, type 2 dogleg hammer). Other than that, all parts match what should be there. My main question is the stock. I don't want to mess it up. Can anyone advise if they believe it has been refinished? The overall gun appears to be in really good shape.

Also, the rear sight is adjustable but it doesn't appear to fit in the dovetail slot correctly (the base of the sight extends past the edges of the receiver base). The "oiler" is a piece of plastic and the last owner installed the sling incorrectly. I look forward to your recommendations and advice. Thank you!

It is marked "OI" in the sling well. I think it has been sanded and refinished also. The cartouche that should be on the right side is gone and it just seems too smooth.

I have a six digit Inland (476K) that I believe has the original stock. The wood is a bit higher than the butt plate and yours seems about even with it. I tried to make a composite picture with your stock and mine. Didn't turn out real well, but you should be able to see what I'm talking about. - Bob

I just did the same comparison with my Underwood which I am 99% sure is original and you are correct, there is a noticeable difference on the edge along the butt plate. Based upon the info, I know what today's COVID19 lockdown project is going to be. The pictures were a big help.

The rear sight does hang off the sides of the dove tail on all carbines. The dove tail was not designed for an adjustable rear sight just the type 1 flip sight. So when centered it over hangs on both sides of the dove tail.
