    Why were these early 1940 and 1941 receivers annealed ?
    Good question, I wonder in what time frame all of this annealing was going on.

    I have a Springfield Armory 800,000 range M1icon that was rebuilt at SA during the sixties. It is not annealed. It seems that annealing was not done on early receivers, during rebuild, after the WW2.
