I got my passes from PBI, and it's only ten days away--can hardly wait. !!! It'll be worth the drive from Atlanta I bet. Looking forward to meeting some of ya'll up there. I'll be picking up a carbine in Chattanooga on the way.

I'm leaving Sunday the 1st, that should give me plenty of time to drive the 2,860 from Calif.

No way to forget the date, it falls on my 62 birthday. Maybe I'll find myself a nice present there.

    Happy (early) Birthday Jim!

Best of luck and I hope you do find a great birthday present there!
(Just getting away from the land of Fruits and Nuts should be a good present)

Maybe you should take another road trip in August and come to a Dallas Arms Collectors Association show!

You never know. I can see that being retired does have it's benefits.

Maybe I can find a flame resistant car to get through those horrible fires you are having.

Jim you are an inspiration to other carbine collectors. Ever since you posted that you were attending the display I have been getting numerous request for passes to the show. I am going to call the business manager tomorrow and see if we can't get late entries in at the door.

I'm hoping some folks will still be around tomorrow, I got back in late today off the road, and plan to be over there early tomorrow morning.

I made it out there this morning and met up with Paul at his display. I have to agree, great display, actually produced a lot of carbine envy in me. Talked with Paul for a bit, and what a gentleman, I'm proud to know him.

Got my application to join the OGCA, signed and sealed with Paul as one sponsor, and a fellow Daytonian as the second. I appreciate it more than words can convey, I'd wanted to attend one of these shows and become a member for years, and never learned how easy it was until today. I didn't buy anything, (actually dragging my butt around the center, it was a long week), but saw a lot of very interesting displays, and saw lots of stuff I'd have liked to picked up, but it wasn't in the budget to make large purchases right now. Also saw some way overpriced stuff, but you'll have that. Hopefully, by next show finances will allow me to pick some stuff up.

I was very impressed with the show, I'd feared it would be like gun shows I've been to in the past, which ended up getting elbowed and ran down all day by the rumbling crowds. There were several people there, but a atmosphere of courtesy was refreshing to see at a gun show. I'm sure I'll enjoy attending these shows. I'm just sorry I missed out on seeing other forum members who had attended yesterday.

Bottom line, great day spent with good people. Again, I can't thank Paul enough for all his help.
