Yesterday we had a decrease of 10 (sic) positives. Today of 851.
This is really good news.
The bad news is that those who call themselves Italian
government keep behaving like drunken donkeys, affected by atavic stupidity...
No serious decisions, no courage, no logics.
Saturday, April 25th, Italy will, again, celebrate the “liberation” from nazifascism...
We lost a war in an indecent way, had a civil war with lots of communist partisans who spent their time killing people for vengeance rather than trying to fight the Germans, and still...we celebrate...
I consider September 8th (armistice, 1943) and April 25th (1945) two days of mourning.
I think of how a country like ours could become a dictatorship, how we could quit the fight and see the Royal Family flee, abandoning the country, the high command of the armed forces evaporate, leaving a couple million soldiers without a guide, without orders, without a plan...
A moral catastrophe that is still plaguing the country, even if no-one seems to remember it.
Then we had a cruel and useless civil war. The communist partisans have invented a nice story in which they liberated the country (the Allied were probably on holidays in our beautiful south), then tried to throw Italy from the frying pan into the soviet fire.
Killed thousands of people and gave a very negative imprinting to our poor state. And we celebrate...
Now, since the old partisans are all dead, the association of those bloody assassins (there were also democratic or monarchic partisans. These were real patriots and have often been killed by their red colleagues toward the end of the war) needs new recruits, in order to keep the Italian politics under leftist pressure. So, guess what they’ll do Saturday?
While the whole of Italy is under this frigging lock-down, they have been allowed to gather and parade through the cities...
I swear I would like to shoot into that mass of idiots and then go pick the “authorities” who allowed them to do so one by one and have them hold my targets at 1000 metres. Iron sights only!
I can’t believe this...
I’m in such a rage I can’t articulate my thoughts correctly!
In the meantime, the poor (sarc.) communication skills of the government and the slow bureaucracy of the state, are bringing the social temperature toward feverish levels.
Lots of activities just started operating again, without waiting for authorizations or new provisions. No logical decisions come from above, so the people act for their own survival.
People are getting more and more restless and vocal. More and more aggressively.
The north is starting to boil.
I guess this might be the time where the Italian people, or at least the northern ones, will consider civil disobedience and restart talking about secession.
On my part, I’d agree. We’re three different countries pressed in a dinosaur called Italy. We should be a confederation at best.
A weak federal superstructure and strong autonomous states.
Still defcon three. Hopefully it will remain there...

Some interesting, possibly good news coming out of New York. It is now estimated that about 21% of the residents of New York City have been infected by Covid-19. The good news is that the hospitalization and death rate from such high numbers of infected is actually pretty low. It is not as deadly as it has been media hyped.

So "spaghetti carbonari" isn't as popular a dish as it used to be Oviodo?
Edmund Burke described that crowd and their reigning spirit more than two centuries ago; nothing has changed since.
Man learns nothing from history.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928

The apparent newest rage here in the states is unbounded criticism of President Trumps suggestion that Doctors look into some sort of disinfectant that could be used intravenously and for UV light treatment that could be used inside the body. What the news media failed to do yet once again is fact check this before they went off half cocked with something they "know" proves him to be an idiot. Both treatments are already in use to treat viruses. Intravenous Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy is the first and actually just a reinforcement of what your body does naturally with vitamin C, it converts it into Hydrogen Peroxide. Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation has been used since the 1940's and was more or less stopped with the advent of antibiotics but has been making a comeback recently because of the resistance being built up against some antibiotics. They are also on the attack for the drug cocktail he suggested getting a miserable study review despite the study being flawed from the start (deliberately, it isn't a study at all but a complete misrepresentation of the actual treatments and the outcomes) and there being numerous other studies done that are actual studies that show it works. It just seems that the media and the left would rather see people die than this President being seen in a favorable light and that's just plain stupid. Trump didn't come up with either of these treatments, he heard about them in his briefing from the medical staff, he found them fascinating and mentioned them in his briefing in a manner he could, not being a doctor. He didn't come up with the drug cocktail either, just passed it along from what he heard.

I must be going Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs with cabin fever. My wife complained about the can opener not working right. I used it as an excuse to get away from her and the kids.
Guys'''''' I found myself stoning the little wheel cutter to a razors edge and sharpening the teeth of the wheel that grabs the can with a file!!! A new one can be had for something around $5 bucks.
I was enjoying myself,,,,,,

You fixed a Chinese can opener. I just went and bought another one. They are junk but unfortunately I could not find a US made can opener then and couldn't find one now. Hopefully this will be the first step in weeding us off the garbage cheap crap that China produces. Working with tools on a daily basis I have first hand knowledge of the loss of quality when production left the states or European countries where they were originally made. Low quality steel is the biggest issue.

We wouldn't. We'd just show up in a few cars with groceries and Vino and get started feasting...that would last a couple days.

I am afraid Surpmil we have learned a few things from history we have got killing each other down to a fine art from a single person at longrange or the whole planet if they ever start throwing Nukes around.
Or perhaps a virus to create a new world order.
What we have lost from history is to extend the hand in friendship in an unquestioning way, sadly we too the Antipodeans have lost that spirit the Australia
of old is long gone I am so glad I spent so long on the land and roustabouting for my Uncles shearing team.
