Just out of curiousity (and ignorance), is mounting a pistol into a rifle stock, i.e. your Owen, legal?

There is a company out there called Mech Tech that make a rifle upper that you can attach either a Glock Sig or 1911 frame with no modifications to it and have an AR styled carbine in pistol caliber

I just ordered a KelTec SU-16B 5.56 for $499 to use as my new home defense gun. My Inland rebuild Carbine will go back in the safe, as it is too valuable to me to loose to a burglar... The Kel Tec is a little over 4 pounds, 16" barrel on the B model I got, takes standard M16/AR15 magazines. It comes with two 10 rounders in the stock, but a single USGI aluminum 30 rounder will fit, also. With one 30 in the stock and one 30 in the weapon, that's a lit of firepower. The forearm fold down for an ersatz bipod. It folds in the middle for a survival/backpacking rifle, down to 25" long, so it will fit in my day pack. The one I had did just over 1 MOA from the sandbags at 100 yards.










I had one when the first came out an LOVED it. It is the only firearm that is as light and handy as the M1 Carbine to me. The new ones have 1/7 twist barrels, so I'll load it up with the MK262 MOD1 77 grain OTM SMK loads (2750 fps from a 16" for 1,300 ft lbs ME, and still almost 1,000 ft lbs at 200 yards.)

A friend of mine has one, its a fine little rifle, I enjoy shooting it.

I have the .22LR little brother to that gun and it runs very well as a plinker.

I actually have owned two before. One I got in about 2006 when they first came out. I loved it, and got just over 1 MOA from sandbag rest. I fired over 1,000 rounds from assorted magazines with ZERRO malfunctions (probably because it is piston drive like an AK). A friend talked me out of it when I left California in 2007. When I came back to California in 2011, I bought one to bring back with me. After I got here, I found I could go featureless and Off List lowers, etc. to have an AR and AK, so I sold it right after I got back. I regretted it instantly, because it is so light and compact and makes a great little hiking pack gun or one to throw in the 4X4 in the woods.

While Mini-14 is more robust, this is lighter, more reliable, and uses reliable AR15 magazines. Minis have rather lukewarm accuracy, even with the new series (the most recent one I had gave maybe 3 MOA on a good day. Even with factory magazines, the Minis I have had were only about 95% reliable or about 5 FTFs per 100 rounds. That is not a record to defend you life with. My Inland is 100% reliable with USGI 15s, and almost 100% with USGI 30s, with maybe one FTF every couple hundred rounds. My AR builds and AK are 100% reliable, and I expect this KelTec will be 100% reliable like the first one I had.

Bernie, That's a Nice Rifle and you got a very Great deal...I have a friend that has one just like it and he paid almost 600.00. There lots of fun to Shoot as you know since you had one before. Happy Shooting !
