My first love is the U.S. Rifle cal .30 M1, But I've always had a soft spot for the 98's, and 98k's, and other varients. But this doesn't mean I don't affectionately handle my 1903-A3, and M1 carbine.

My first was a Mitchell Mauser,I don't care what is said it is a nice rifle and shoots well, then I got a no5 then a no1 mk3,then a no4mk1 and bayonets for all. I like to imagine where a particular gun may have been and been through for all it's previous years. I am fascinated by the enfields and their history.

I would like to come up with a 14 and a 16. I think I can drill a hole and put a bushing in it to accept a key so I can shoot it in semi auto or single shot or. I am right now in the process of taking a m98 style action from a montana action. Screwing in a 42 inch SS 1.5 inch barrel punched out to 30-378wby I need a mile long tack driver I have found a round to put in it that will using a 1in14 screw be able to tap out in the 150grain round using H870 or maybe H1000 say about 120grains using a federal mag Rifle primer so I can burn through the whole charge.
After this I may try my hand at a 408 Cheytac. If I can figure out what I need to know on it.

Has anyone else heard anything about this bunch of folks that hail from the State of Jefferson? The are calling themselves the Sons of State. or SOS? I was contacted by phone here a month or so ago by a couple of guys on a conference call. I listened and actually they kind of make me nervous. The thought they have is wanting to cut part of CA OR NV off from those states and Form a New State. This was almost done back in the 1940's . Then along came WWII and nothing more till the last few years. I do see sign's posted all over the place. These folks have some money and they know a lot of stuff. I mean stuff they probably should not know. They are the ones who have shall we say disposed of a few folks around already. I have been told that they chatted with a few people at AIG and those talks got a lot of money returned to the company. So let me know if anyone has heard of these guys. Thanks

Am amazed that the enfields are so popular. Often thought my addiction was a strange one. Seems not!

I have to admit that I was also a little confused by the fact that the enfields seem to be so popular. I heard about them before but I always thought that they were more of "less known and loved" rifle. It's a beauty and it really seems noble but I prefer the Mosins or the german rifles such as the Gewehr 43, the Sturmgewehr 44 or the Karabiner 98.
Man I have to move to the states to be abled to buy all these guns.... Someday....

Mosins more preferred to the Lee-Enfield?

Think the reason is that here in Germany your able to get a moisin for 80 - 150 €. And so they are a cheap solution for beginners.The LE`s normaly not under 250€ the cheapest up to 480€ for good ones. The "T" LE that i know begins at 1400€.
So, i prefer the LE`s.

Mosins are cheap here too compared to Enfields that have not been sporterized.

Exactly ! The mosins ain't that expensive here. We're close to the ex-easternblock so there are plenty of mosins. but the lee enfields are really expensive - too expensive for me the for the beginning. I also find the mosins history very interesting (eg. the world famous sniper Vasily Grigoryevich Zaitsev).
BTW: Sporterizing is simply a shame I think.

Well, I've got to go back and add enfields since that is the representative choice for Brit. Don't really collect them, I've got a #1 Mk III and a #4 Mk 1 and don't want any others, But I've also got a Bren and 3 Stens.
I guess the German Mauser choice also has to cover the G/K 43s.

Me thinks you should add a "Machine Gun" choice though cause it ain't right not to be able to list Thompsons, BARs, Brens, Stens, MG 34s, MG 42s usv!

I also think there should be some more modern catagories. I collect Viet Nam period weapons. Have SKS, AK, RPG 2, Makerov, Tokerov, M 14, CAR 15, M35 usv.
I just realized as I typed the above that there is also NO pistol catagories to choose.
