Makes sense to me. A co-worker gave me a few Colt 20 rd. AR15 mags. I did not have an AR15. The logical remedy was to shop for/ buy an AR15.
I remedied the situation...in the form of a beautiful Colt SP 1. You need to buy an M1 carbine.
#2 & #3 look like "A I" so would be Inland Div of GM. #4 is "OI B" so would be IBM. #1 is hard to read--if it's "SY-B" it also is IBM. All are GI issue.
The khaki pouch was meant to go on the M1912 pistol belt (the snap lined up with the snap on the belt for the M1911 mag pouch). Enterprising GI's put them on the carbine stock.
JQMD stands for Jeffersonville Quarter Master Depot (Missouri).
That's a great find!! They're still out there. It's like fishing: you get skunked 9 times, but the 10th is great!

Thanks for the information. Yes, mag #1 is stamped SY-B. The pouch on the left was made by Tweedie Footwear Corporation, and is dated 12-20-56.
