Looks like a nice SA handguard, post WWI. I am just guessing based on what I see.

Jim Tarleton is addled. He has "handguard" on the brain.
I believe the trigger guard was made by Springfield Armory.

I am dressed up like the mule, drinking Mint Juleps, and smoking Cuban cigars. I think I will take a walk through the Garden of Good and Evil a little later tonight.
OK, OK, it's a triggerguard. Did you notice the milling tool chatter in the lightening cut just behind the front TRIGGERGUARD screw hole?
Where's my cane?

Hey Jim,
You'd love the metal finish in person. Looks like perfect grain in a beautiful slice of rock under a 16X loup. Must be NOS. It would be great to have a rifle with this finish on all of the metal.....real purty. Hate to put it into a rifle I gotta' sell.

Hey J.B.,
Thanks for the reply.
Maybe Jim is loopy from breathing a little too much Burgaw swampgas.
You got any idea when it might have been made? And what about the "8", is that just a regular SA thing? Guess I'll use it.
Cheers and pass the swamp gas,

Jim,
Wish I was over at your place tonight. Just got cigs and beer out here in the Peaceshack. Hell I'd dress up like the mule and we could take a walk into the swamp and maybe meet up with a coupla' hot Cuban ladies dressed up just like us. A swamp version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Course' we'd need a good '03 for security (Want to stay on topic).
Man, you crack me up. Is the Milling tool chatter something of note, or are you just messin' with J.B.?
Death to bad guys,

Sabre and I were in the swamp earlier today while it was drizzling. Wet swamp means silent movement. I had my dying rabbit call, but I had no luck. We had a South wind too (I travel south into the swamp). I was well armed with my latest toy - "Master Blaster". I am not trying to kill anything, as I am just trying to get an owl to come to me; but we do have bears here.
Did a bit of shooting on the range today too. I really suck with open sights and no glasses. I am trimming & polishing all the 06 cases I can find for the big "loading". I am moving my Dillon from the "little" barn and setting it up in the loft of the Rainbow Barn. I need to crank out 1000 rounds, but I don't have but about 300-400 cases. Nothing beats a Dillon for huge loading runs.
I am going to do some "tricks" and post them. I have done this before, but I can't find the photos. I hope to have a little surprise for JB and Don.
I was serious about the milling chatter.

Man you have fun out in the country. What's the point about the milling chatter?
