Mystery marking on a No.32 scope Mk. 3 scope
I have an odd ball marking on a No.32 Mk.3 scope that I cannot run down at all.
The scope is an Indian rebuild and actually matches a rifle of a member here who did not
want to do an exchange.
Anyhow, the scope has been rebuild and by India which is quite obvious due to workmanship.
Has anyone seen a similar marking on another 32 scope???

Never! Looks like someone has used some logo from some Tactical Support Group and applied it to the tube IMHO.

What I am seeing reads, 'OUT INSP FEB 64 TSG 15' with '509' enclose in the diamond. That tells me it is an inspection proof mark following a rebuild at 'TSG 15' wherever and whomever that is.

You've all got it right. It's an Indian Base Workshop attached to a Base Ordnance Depot. We also had one at Weedon - hence thge old Base Workshop formulated WRstandard, 40 Base Workshop and the 221-BOD at Johore Bahru - as indeed does the old Base workshop at Donnington.
The Out Inspectors had eyes like the proverbial shite-hawks. sometimes kindly old souls, they might correct a couple of your mistakes. But if it was a real howler,. they'd just send it back with a curt note........... I used to keep the curt notes and after a few weeks, I had enough to wallpaper my house..... inside and out! The old jokes are always the best

Thanks one and all.
I was not sure of exactly what it was as getting info our of any Indian government agency is like.....well we will not go there.
They still list the SMLE as a secret weapon along the the atomic bomb.
Those that have tried to get info out of India will know of what I am talking about.
