Original "C" Stock upgrade
Hello all,
I'm a FNG to this site. Just wondering if anyone knows who made the "original" C stocks for the 1903 A3. I'm aware of American Bowling and Billards, Keystone and Springfield, but does anyone know if Smith Corona made them? Northridge International Inc, claims they have NOS type 13's made by SC (?) that's a new one on me. They say there are no marks or stamps on them due to never being issued and I can see that being correct. Anyway, I want to upgrade from my "OG Utah arsenal redone" stamped scant, and I've heard good things about Northridge, but not sure about this one. Anyway, thanks for any info.

no C stocks were ever used on 1903A3,s the only rifle that ever was issued with a C stock would be an 1903A4..
that being said, have no idea what a type 13 stock is, maybe some secret code that Joe Poyer uses..
id be leary of anyone offering original C stocks...SC used a standard S stock as well, made by many subcontractors, American Billiard was one of those makers, as was Keystone.
Remington supplied stocks for a small run of SC A3,s i have seen original rifles marked correctly with Remington made stocks. with SC markings.

I agree with Chuck ... ALL Smith Coronas (as well as Remingtons, for that matter) were originally made with so-called "straight" stocks. Except for M1903A4s, a Type C stock on a M1903A3 is a replacement, as well as a Scant stock.

Thanks chuckindenver,
You're right, the "C" stocks were mainly issued for the 1903A4, however some did find their way onto 1903A3 NM rifles. I just want to know if anyone knows if SC made "C" stocks. Also, I've provided a link to help explain a type 13 stock. To my knowledge Remington and Smith Corona never made rifle stocks. I think what those folks over at Northridge must have are Keystone, or Springfield made stocks. Maybe Joe and his folks need to to their homework on what they are selling. I'm going to look into it some more and if it turns out they are NOS, I'll get one and post a pic.

the 1903A3NM wasnt a Remington made rifle, it was built after issue, most had standard S stock. less then a handful have suvived and a real one is rare. Harrisons book has more mistakes then Poyers, though i like both books.
but , no , SC made no C stocks, most common used on the A3, is Keystone, i avoid the auctions on Fleabay that use, Type 6, or 13 ect to try and discribe what they are selling, same reason i avoid bidding on anything listed as a Sniper part that isnt, to try and get more money from someone thinking its special.

Thanks chuckindenver. I'm building a NM from my Remington and want USGI parts, hence why the "C" stock I'm looking for must be a NOS part.
Best regards
