Question on a Rock-ola Operating Slide

My new (to me) IBM Carbine has a (Riesch) Type 3 slide. The marking on the bottom is ROCK-OLA with an X underneath. I found that marking in the book, but according to the listing it shouldn't be on a Type 3. Have I got something unusual, or is the book incorrect on this?

    Thanks! Bob

I have 3 RMC type III slides here all marked Rock-Ola exactly where yours is... but no X.
No idea what the X stands for.

    Bob,

Only found one place this was referenced. NL #65.

Rock-Ola was moved to outside bottom location somewhere before serial #1681xxx. Later the marking was changed to Rock-Ola X on the outside bottom. The X shows up in the 1696xxx and 1697xxx range. The round cut on the box was discontinued sometime before the marking was moved to the outside bottom location.

The X was dropped from the marking before completing the block of numbers ending with 1762519. Sorry there was not more. hth.
