1896 Carbine

I ran across an 1896 Krag icon

Carbine in a LGS and was looking for input here. From my limited experience with Krags it looks like it might be a good deal. It is an 1896 without the 'Model" stamp, has the correct sights, and looks like the correct stock with a 1896 cartouche and proof mark. I could not get photos, but the serial number is 32232. Does this have a hit in the SRS, anyone with access? I suspect it may have been re-blued at some point. Thanks in advance for any assistance. What is the going rate for these carbines?

Does it have the full length stock still? Probably somewhere around $700 or so.
What are they asking?

It has an 1896 Carbine stock. Not sure what you mean by full length stock.

Does it go almost all the way to the tip of the barrel? It should be within just a few inches of the muzzle.

This is a Carbine, not a rifle.

Yikes, haha, sorry. I completely missed that. I don’t know enough about those to be of any more help. I know they command a premium so I’d definitely be careful!

It's hard without images, but if I found one in good condition, even with the bluing issue I would expect to pay $600 - $700.,,,,,,,,,,Good Luck

I find nothing in the 32XXX range at all. Nothing whatsoever. There are others that have greater access though, Butlersrangers should...there are others... Anyway, all numbers through that range show guns being carbine so there's that. We really do need pics to help determine or we're really guessing.

I bought one around here for just over $700 a bit back, it had a couple things wrong though...

I answered this inquiry on the KCA Forum. No SRS 'hit' for #32232, but, the number is in a known carbine number range.

Model 1896 carbines are very desirable and in great demand.

Condition, originality, and eye appeal greatly influence value. Refinish of metal or wood greatly depresses value.
