1873 Trapdoor look up and opinions requested
I came into this today. Would like to know if anyone can tell me if there is a crs hit anywhere and would be able to give me any opinions on it. the only thing I can find is the hammer sometimes does not want to fall unless I nudge it from behind. not sure why

I'd think maybe a scum of hardened oil or original grease in the mech. I'll bet if you take the mech off the gun and look at the back you'll see the problem...what a beauty Rick.

Nice looking M1873, MFG date 1883. I do not have the SRS books, in case you didnt typo it. Springfield Reasearch Service. If you post the S/N on Trapdoorcollector.com, Al Frasca'a site, someone will look it up for you, esp if you ask nice!
Remove the lockplate very carefully, there is a right way to do that without chipping the stock, you can find that info on the above site also. Inspect the underside, hopefully its just dirt, but the way rifle looks, you might have another issue. any part you need is eaisly obtained from AL also.
