A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. pic # 1 2nd from end Rt track has a walkie talkie may be in contact with arty strange they are not buttoned up
#2 same again not buttoned up!
#3 could be fording equipment as it appears to be some sort of manifold at the rear of the tank perhaps to get across a reef as it is not a DD (Duplex Drive no props) tank that had the canvas skirt for the D - Day landings no commander would let you go out there with 400 liters of high octane gas in that spot one errant round and straight onto a hot engine Ronson Lighter time again

    Barrels

Yes, probably water delivery to the forward positions, a constant problem. In "With the Old Breed" he talks about finally getting water but delivered in barrels that had not been properly cleaned and tasted like gasoline.
