A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. What's the rifle in the first picture on the left? It sure doesn't look like a M1icon. Maybe my old eyes are going bad.

It's a Garandicon. Your looking at the bottom of it.

    Guadalcanal Marines

May I add one to the mix.

Looks like a couple of early rifles with flush nut sights. Carbine in the background too.

What about the 10' bayonet? Looks like M1icon too, not 1905 E5 spear point. I would have thought it would be later in the war, "The Canal" was just about the first thing they did wasn't it? Very strange...

Guadalcanal was used as a training/staging area later in the war. That would account for the equipment shown.
