Need Help on 1911 A1

#1029XXX colt seems to be 1943 but no GHD. has instead a RM by the left trigger guard
bow. I am looking in " Military Firearms " catalog 5th ed. also seems this ser# was shared with Rem Rand? It looks to be in very good and what I call original condition,but what do I know? Any info will be gratefully appreciated.

Which is it? In another post you say it is a 1.2 million?

Serial number 1029XXX is a Remington Rand, but should have an FJA acceptance mark. I suspect it has a Colt slide.

sorry I got the # wrong it is a 102XXXX I just got it wrong in my haste. I don't have the pistol and the owner isnt as ate up as i am with history and just wanted to know the year and knew i liked to do the research. I am out to lunch when it comes to the 1911/1911 A1.

It's not RM but FJA and info I got is it's an Ithaca arms, production 1943-45. the book reads un numbered slide which checks out but the slide is a colt(at least it has the rearing colt in the middle of all the wording on the left side. (to set the record straight I looked at it first in
the new save the planet lighting which we all know is xxxx and when I picked it up today I saw FJA in sun light as plain as day)( no pun intended) My next question is did Ithaca use colt slides? is this a rebuild? I have taken some pics and as soon as I can I will post them.

Yes, Ithaca did use some Colt slides, but they were new production and were not Colt marked. Ithaca finished the slides and marked them with their logo.
Your pistol could be a rebuild, or just something put together after it left the military. Maybe pictures will help.

I discovered where the ser# for what I thought was un #ed behind firing pin plate(did I mention I'm a newbee) 1101 above hole and 82 3 below hole. is that a 4 digit ser# or a 7 digit ser# It's either a 1912 colt or a 1943 colt? or not? if former would that be a 1911 on a rem rand 1911/A1 frame? And is that possible? also the A in FJA has a slight double strike,I don't know if that is anything important?

The slide originally came off Colt No. 1101823 made in July/August of 1943. The receiver is Remington Rand and can't give you the month of manufacture without the serial number.
The acceptance mark, FJA, was hand struck and a bounce/double strike is common.

JP thank you for the info. can I conclude that this is a matching upper and lower since the lower (102971X) is also 1943 or because its a colt upper it's been put together? the finish seems to be a very good match( though remember I thought FJA was RM) I know I will be looking to get a 1911 or 1911A1 of my own soon I hope.

To be matching it would have to have a Remington Rand upper. It has been put together at some time
