Bren magazine box with leather strap.

After searching for a while about information about this box I'll try it here.

As far as I could find this could be a Czechicon made box, and has the pre war deep bronze green paint?

So is this indeed a Czech made Bren box? And if its british paint, why isn't it completly marked with Box Magazines Bren .303 inch MkI?

Any information about this box would be great! (The only other markings I could find is on the bottom, ''A Coy'', so that doesnt help much...)

It looks like a Czechicon box with the pack sadlery ring on he bottom. Kev Groom knows quite a bit about these Czech mag boxes. Its possibly one of the Irish Boxes for the pre War Irish Czech made contract.

I've just been comparing to photos of Kevs Czechicon box and its identical. So I'd say its a Irish contact Bren Mag box. Looking at the number of boxes you have in the photo, I take it you colect Bren mag boxes? If your a dealer looking to sell, let me know.

Thanks for the info. Now I know the history of this box.

I'm indeed a collector and will keep it in the collection.

    Nice find Daniel
As BP has said above probably made it's way from Ireland.
The rivets on the handle should be like the ones below, the same are found on ZB26/30 7.92 magazine boxes.

Interesting to see your box has also been assembled incorectly as the cut out for the ring rivets is on the wrong end (as is mine)

Please give the leather some treatment and then NEVER pick it up by the leather handle ever again........just in case

Daniel the colour seems to be original as it's a good colour match to Czechicon tripods and there are no traces of it being overpainted.

Now you have found the mag box hopefully some Czech made 303 magazines might be about ?

    Hi Kev,

Thanks, I'll just give it a good clean then.

Some Czechicon made magazines would be great at some time. Do you have some pictures of the markings that these magazines have? Then I'll sort my mags out. But most of them are JI MkII's or MKIII made Enfield mags.
The only strange one I rembember now is a magazine with a MK1 top plate marked with an encircled A. Any idea what that stands for?
