Stock Marking
I recently purchased a Smith Corona A3. On the left side on the stock just above the butt plate are the letters S S stamped. What does this represent.

"Servicable Srandard" I believe. Used to denote a post war rebuild to be sold through DCM to the public.

Interesting. Seller said he purchased it from the DCM decades ago. It has 6 lands and grove barrel.
Thanks

Attachment 110888IMHO "Serviceable Sales". I have a M1903A3 stock marked "US" for Unserviceable Sales. By the time I bought my M1903A3 through the DCM (1962) they had stopped marking the stocks and sold all of them as ' unclassified' 'safe to fire live ammo'.

Should be an early one with the 6 groove barrel. Not many out there with that barrel.
