30 round mags
Over the years I have bought many and now wonder if they are USGI or better yet work.....Is there anyone I can send them to to let me know what I have?
I can load each with 30 rounds and test for functioning ,but I have 50 or so and it could get pricey...any suggestions...Thanks Charlie

It is a very good report except for one error. There were no US unmarked carbine 30 round magazine military contracts. Other than that, use it to help identify what you have.
You really do not need outside help. Use the markings as shown. If they are marked as such, they were worth more than commercial. Other than one exception, no foreign made magazines bring big money either.

High capacity magazines made after the NY AWB went into effect are illegal. Those manufactured prior to the law are legal.

how do you tell the difference between a legal one and a dislegal one?

Bill,
About 15 years ago I bought about 130, 30 rd carbine mags from an old timer on the west coast. They were all solid back. Except for 4 mags they were all marked SEY. The 4 mags were unmarked, but were solid back, and indentical in every way to the SEY marked mags.
I still have the mags but don't have a proper camera.

That could be a production error. I have seen many items like that. Just a run of items that never got marked.

i didn't know this...quite cool
"Ballistically, the M1 carbine's little .30 Carbine cartridge packs about 2.5 times the kinetic energy of a standard .45 ACP or 9mm load fired from a pistol. This is solidly in the energy territory of the .44 Mag. revolver. Indeed it has only 90 ft./lbs. less energy at the muzzle than the Russian 5.45x39mm cartridge and is only a little farther behind the .223 when fired from 14.5" or 16" barreled carbines."
