    Boer carbine at 100 meters

Last week, under "Watch this space" on the BP forum, I posted this 50-meter test target:

    Attachment 44641

The 3 sharp holes were made by the Boer carbine (7x57) using, as Jmoore quickly spotted, S&B "CE" ammo with 173gn hunting bullets that have a long cylindrical portion and a step that punches very clean holes. This ammo seems to harmonize very well with the Boer carbine. Having checked that the carbine was on target, today's target was instantly at 100 meters. No sight adjustment at all!

Looks fine, but I know that I can hardly do better with open sights (especially with the very short sight radius of the carbine). So the next trial may be with a peephole sight.
