Please have the mounting screws dressed,I despise screws that have been buggered by use of the wrong tools.

It looks to me like the rear scope mount might be tapered to fit into the dovetail, and the nut on the left side draws the rear mount into the dovetail and secures it in place. I might not be tapered, the screw does pass all the way thru and the receiver might butt up against the slotted end of the screw.Interesting mount system. The stock looks to be in nice shape.

No, Bill, it is an oval cut modded to low wood.

I can't help you with the scope but my plainfield's number is P 887. Mine is mostly LEGAL M2 parts including the stock cutout. No cartouche on the stock.
