    What makes you think it's early? The rear sight looks like a stamped #4 sight and bent... Then there's the white band on the butt that means...what again? I think this one's just hammered.

    I'm assuming the A919 is the serial number so would be 1944. However that is based on it being a serial number. But for $50 it may be worth a punt, the No.5 sight is common and cheap so no big deal.

    From the pictures, it looks like a Darra manufactured rifle, rather than a Fazakerly or BSA
