M1903 in Action
I think I've shown this photo on the old board before, but it remains one of my favorites. Michigan National Guard with bayonets fixed during the 1937 Sit Down Strike in Flint, MI. I believe this photo was taken at the Fisher Body No. 3 plant, which was relatively peaceful. It was a different story across town at the Chevrolet plants. More than a few Flint PD and NG had their heads split during various engagements with workers. We may again see days like that--that is if there are any plants left in the U.S.

"and the National Army shall never be used against the populance..."
Now what do you think Obama has in mind for his all volunteer civilian police force, equivalent in force to our military, for which will be granted $288MMM? Exactly whom are they going to "police"? It's us, folks. Remember the Brown Shirts? They numbered 2MM men, far more than the German military at the time. That certainly turned out well, heh?
In September of 1962, I had a Federal Marshal point a gun in my face in Oxford, Mississippi. I had just hit him with a rock. His training is probably the only thing that kept him from shooting me in the head. I was 15 years old and I and my young and dumb friends had to "see" the riot and got caught up in the whole mess (I remember that day being a Sunday, as we went over the weekend - lived 80 miles away). That same day two men (both Caucasians) were shot and killed by "accident". I remember the rioters doing all of the shooting, and the Feds keeping their cool for the most part. Just a few years later, I would be on riot duty in Washington, DC (Marines from Quantico). We were not allowed to have live rounds, but we did have M79's and CS4 gas rounds. They issued us a specific number of rounds and we had to account for every one fired. M Street looked like a war zone with burned cars and broken windows and doors in every building. We had to undergo riot training prior to departure for DC, where I learned how difficult it is to hold a fire hose at full blast. My point is that police, Federal Marshals and the military have accountability, and that "all volunteer civilian police force" won't. Without that accountability, both riots would have been bloodbaths - believe me. As Elmer Keith said, "Hell, I was there!"
I also drove through Watts AFTER that riot. Utter destruction everywhere.
They may want our 1903's back.

National Police Field Force (White Mice) in Viet Nam. I was in on several of their operations. Some very good, others bull. Many European countries have national police. The Germans grabbed all of Interpols files in Paris in
1940. That allowed the Gestapo to easily find both friends and enemies. The USA has always opposed national police. Obama/Hillary simply don't get it.

"Obama/Hillary simply don't get it."
No, Steve. They 'get it'. And they want to use it! One of their organizers said that they don't want a fight right now, not until their army is ready. Ready for what?

I won't dispute the origin of your photo as I don't know any different. But when did the military allow females to be armed and placed in combat situations? I don't think it was 1937. Or were heels the new fashion for the MNG in '37?

That guy is just real short. He probably had "spacers" put in his heels like we did when were kids. All their heels seem a bit tall. The one on the far left looks a little strange.

Jim,
Look again!!! My posting was made tongue in cheek, expecting all the other photo experts to look closer.
All of them (the subjects) are wearing lipstick, hose (stockings), and high heels!!! In 1937 the little woman was expected to stay home and cook and clean and raise a family. They were NOT issued M1903 rifles and bayonets to fend off an angry crowd of MEN!!!
FWIW,
Emri
P.S.- If they are not women in stockings, those guardsmen have VERY tight trouser legs!

Maybe they were very good at winding their puttees!!
